The Greenhouse

I have been struggling to get things to grow here and a friend of mine suggested I put some plastic over the pots. I started thinking about it and my plan grew into a much larger thing! I must say I am so proud of my greenhouse. We have gone through several thunderstorms lately and it is holding together. This is a miracle because I made it out of every scrap of wood I could find, various types of screws and nails and some heavy duty staples. I wanted to do something "green" and get rid of some piles in the garage. It is amazing what you can do with stuff lying around. In the end I was able to get all I needed out of our garage except the 16$ worth of heavy plastic to cover the greenhouse.
Framing was difficult because everytime I got one side to hold together, the other would fall apart. Jacob's arms got very tired holding up one side or the other while I figured out how to get the corners to not fall apart. Alan finally stepped in and helped me with the side pieces.

Is is finally standing up on its own and I am putting the plastic covering on.

The plastic is held on by the staples. It worked really well and if the plastic becomes detached, I can just staple it back on.

All done! We used some of the fence we pulled out of the yard to keep the plants off the ground. Eventually I will have a 1/2 size shelf in there to take advantage of the height. It has helped keep the plants warm so the seeds can really take off! We'll see what I am able to harvest in the Fall.

I made the door too and found the hinges and the latch in the garage. I can't beleive what kinds of cool parts we have lying around in there!

Wow, I am very impressed. You will have to show an after photo once the plants are all beautiful and green.
