Fun Happenings

Daniel wanted to enter the Science Fair this year. For any of you that haven't done this yet with your kids, it is very time consuming and labor intensive. Not only do you have to come up with something to do, you have to remember all of those things you vowed to forget from school once you became an adult. Daniel had some fun doing his project, mostly because he got to burn things. I gave him the talk about not worrying about winning, this is just for fun before he went to school with his project. Well, Daniel managed to present his project so well that he took 4th place in the school and he qualified for the District Science Fair. He and I were equally stunned when they called his name for the award. He just looked at me smiling and mouthed, "I won". We are so proud of him and can't wait to see what happens at the District Fair.

Jacob turned 12 on the 21st of January. We are very proud of him and who he has chosen to be. He was ordained to the Aaronic Priesthood and is now a Deacon. He will get to pass the sacrament on Sunday for the first time. He is officially taller than me (I have on some really high boots in the picture above.) and we found out he has grown almost 5 inches this past year. I thought I was going crazy trying to keep him in clothes and shoes, now I know why. He is a very big kid and I just discovered a few pairs of pants that are high waters. He needs more clothes! Thankfully, Jacob is the least vain kid I know and he doesn't really care what he wears as long as he isn't naked.
He had his birthday at the Classic Fun Center. It is a rope climbing, roller skating, bounce house, pirate cove, pizza place, arcade all rolled into one. Jacob got to spin the Fun Wheel to win a prize for his birthday, but the funnest part for all of the kids was the 250 tokens they got to use in the arcade! We have pleny of landfill fodder made in China from the prize counter.
Daniel has some sweet form playing the basketball game in the arcade.
Star Wars characters were the most desired presents this year. Jacob has a vast collection of Star Wars figures, books, etc. He was pretty happy with his newest additions from his party.

Smile! I have learned that 12 year olds still like cupcakes and balloons at their birthday parties. Childhood hangs on for one more year!

I am not sure what this picture is about. But, they all look like they are having fun.

Congrats to Daniel and Happy Birthday to Jacob. I can't believe he is 12 years old already. I serious loose track of time until someone elses kid gets old. ;)
