Easter/Spring Break

The kids have been out of school for this past week on Spring Break so it has been a little difficult to get some things done. Who am I kidding, nothing really has gotten done. They help keep the house picked up but my stuff has had to wait. Jacob was out for the entire week and Daniel and Sarah went back today. I know, it's weird to only have 3 days of Spring Break but that is year round school for you.
Alan has been out of town for almost two weeks now. He was able to come home for the weekend but it has been a bummer having him gone so much.
He was able to get us tickets for the first session of Conference on Sunday and Nick and Andrea went with us. The kids were amazing. We got to see the live broadcast of Music and the Spoken Word before General Conference started. It was angelic. They sang Handel's Messiah. It felt like the walls just melted away in the Conference Center and we were all lifted to heaven during that song. It is the closest thing to Heaven on earth. The spirit was so strong and the messages were so uplifting. It was a wonderful experience to be able to take the kids and have them see the prophet and apostles in person. Daniel got so excited when Pres. Monson walked in I thought he was going to jump right out of his seat. He said he was trying really hard not to cheer. I am so glad he didn't!
After the first session we went over to Nick and Andrea's house to have Easter dinner with them and watch the last session of Conference. It was a great day. We love being with family and eating and enjoying the Easter remembrance.
Saturday before, Sarah and Daniel participated in the city sponsored Easter Egg Hunt. It is a huge event and for all the hard work that goes into the planning it is over in about 1 minute. Sarah and Daniel each found eggs with an extra price ticket in it so it made the egg hunt even funner. Sarah got her Easter Bunny and has been carrying it around ever since.
We haven't really been doing anything this week overly exciting. I took the kids to the movies and we went to the park one day and the library. There was a bit of a blizzard at the beginning of the week and it put a bit of a damper on our outdoor Spring Break activities. Life goes back to somewhat normal next week when everyone goes back to school and back to work and I will have time to accomplish some bigger challenges. Like the giant pile of mending I have on the sewing machine or the enormous mess my desk has become. I definitely have to tackle that mess.
I have pictures of Easter somewhere but I can't find the camera. I'll post them when it turns up.
